I will explain internet connectivity to yo. First, you need to have a connection. I personally believe broadband access is the best. Your local cable company will probably offer this. There are also DSL and DIAL_UP connections. No matter what connection you go with, the only way to get the internet to your pc is through a modem. The modem normally connects through the usb port or the ethernet port. If you have a laptop that you would also like to connect to the internet it needs the signal sent to it also. But since the modem is already connected to the pc, you need what is called a router and a wireless card. The router hooks up to the modem(some company's make a modem that has the router built in, so you don't have to buy two pieces of equipment) and that router sends the internet signal to the laptop, but the laptop needs to recieve the signal, this is done by a wireless card, or an ethernet card. I would suggest that you call your local cable company and sign up for their broadband service, and ask them to set up wireless networking also. They will probably only charge an extra 5-6 dollars for it, and they'll set it all up for you. Try this link.

each and all of the solutions seem analyzing your question otherwise than I do. i've got self belief you assert the computers are related to the router with wires (ethernet cables) and you're no longer in a position to get a wifi sign. i might think of the router isn't wifi. If it would not have an antenna sticking up from the decrease back, or specially says it particularly is a on the spot router then this isn't any longer a on the spot router, yet fairly a router only. with the intention to apply your on the spot (wifi) adapter to get right of entry to the internet, you will p.c. a on the spot router. you need to use it as nicely to the router you have already got (a trick to place in), or only replace the router you presently have. stable success

Assuming you have a wireless card in your laptop, go into the Control Panel and click on the "Wireless Wizard" icon. It will work you through making the connection.

if your lap has a wireless card and driver on it, thats half the problem, if however you dont, you will have to buy a wireless card for the lap top, and if you dont have one for the desk top you may also want to buy one for it as well, either way they are pretty easy to install, without having to take you system to a high dollar computer repair shop, this way you save time and money.
