When I was in the brownies we were taught a song called Zombie, for those of you who don't know it it goes:

Have you ever seen a zombie come to tea? Take a look at me, a zombie you will see? Zombie's attention! Zombie's begin!

Never really made much sense but it's stayed in my head all these years!

We learnt an Irish song in 1st Class called Báidín Fheilimí. It went

Báidín Fheilimí d'imigh go Tórai
Báidín Fheilimí is Fheilimí ann
Báidín Fheilimí d'imigh go Tórai
Báidín Fheilimí is Fheilimí ann

which means:

Phelim's boat - go to Tory
Phelim's boat with Phelim in it
(repeated)

Tory is an island off Co Donegal.

I still have no idea what the point of the song was. The tune is one of those high-pitched ones so that when a group of schoolkids sing it dogs run away howling.

I'm gonna be singing it the rest of the day.

I learned these 2 similar songs at the same time in pre-school:

Ooey-Gooey was a worm
A mighty worm was he.
He sat upon the railroad track
The train he did not see.
Ooey-Gooeyyyyyyyyy (for this part we had to wiggle our upheld hands)

and:

Peanut sat on a railroad track
His heart was all a-flutter
Alonnnnng caaaaame the 6:15
Chugga chugga chugga TOOT TOOT
Peanut Butterrrrrrrrr

I went to the animal fair
The birds and the beasts were there
The big baboon by the light of the moon
Was combing his auburn hair
You ought to have seen the monkey
He sat on the elephant's trunk
The elephant sneezed and fell on his knees
What became of the monkey?

I had a little doggy and his name was Mr Jiggs

I sent him to the grocery store to fetch a pound of figs

A half an hour later he came running back and said

The figs were rather green my dear I bought a bone instead.

My dad used to sing us a song in spanish about a fly on the wall:
Una mosca parada en la pared, en la pared, en la pared,
Una mosca parada en la pared, en la pared, en la pared. An then you go on substituting every vowel first with all a´s, then all e´s and so on till you get to all u´s. Then you begin all over again! lol! I have no idea where he got it from, but I´ve heard it elsewhere so it´s not made up!
