Animal science is applied zoology. It is concerned primarily with animals of economic importance, especially the raising of farm animals for food, egg production, etc. It also applies to the care of zoo animals. Zoology is basic biology, studying animals simply as organisms - their anatomy, physiology, evolution, reproduction, etc.
