I'm not exactly sure what you mean by how to "install" wireless internet. From a hardware point of view, you'll need a wireless LAN card installed (like NetGear or LinkSys). When you have this, you'll either need a wireless access point (contact your internet provider for more details) or just get a normal DSL internet connection (if you just get a normal internet connection, you have to purchase a wireless router and connect it to your modem)
It's quite simple. You can do it!

How old is the laptop? Most laptops released in the last year or two will come with integrated wireless networking. Check your laptops specifications for more information on this.
If you don't have wireless intergrated then you will need to buy a wireless network card for your laptop. These can either be a PMICA card:

Or a USB adapter:

Once one of these are plugged into your computer - you might be ready to go. Windows XP will be able to detect the hardware for you and any wireless networks in the area.
Hope this gets you started.

add a "pmcia wireless card" it goes in the slot on the side of the laptop. I have used one in my old laptop - the one I travel with. I bought a refurbished one for 19 bucks and its worked for four years with no problems.

Besides buying a card, you can buy a USB wireless adapter. I have the Linksys WUSB54G 802.11 b/g. It works fine. Check the link to see a variety of USB wireless adapters. On WIndows XP, many of these USB adapters are Plug and Play. So you just plug it in and it should start working.
