Lets start with the basics. Terms- Ethernet is a wide telephone line normally with 8 connectors. . A standard telephone line has 4 connectors. Wireless no wires. Range boost - strong radio signal so the computer can be farther away for the router and still work.

To use wireless the computer must have a wireless card.

The configuration is that the wire (Ethernet Cord) from the ISP goes to the router then the computer connects to the router either by a wire (Ethernet cord) or wirelessly.

1. Plug the Ethernet cable from your ISP into the router's input connection. (This is normally from the DSL or Cable Modem)

2. If the router has an output connection and you want to connect directly to the router then plug an Ethernet cable from the router into the back of the computer use the Ethernet input.

Note: to use the wireless function of the router, the computer (PC) MUST have a wireless card either built in or external. You can buy a wireless card for a desk top computer. The wireless card in the computer must be turned on either a physical switch -on some laptops - or electronically via a software program.

3. Turn on the router and then turn on the computer. Then insure the wireless card is turned on (to use wireless) The computer should see the router, get an IP address from the router, automatically configure its self and work.

NOTE: The computer must be set to receive a IP address automatically, and DNS automatically -this is under networking in the control panel.

Setting up a wireless network normally is not that hard and most of the configuration is preset by the manufacturer.
