Nothing does, and I don't. I don't know anyone who does, actually, but if they did it would be totally normal. Perhaps you should brush up on the definition of "ethnocentrism."

Americans routinely bash themselves, put down their own government, point to each other and say "you think you're so great, don't you?" Americans get insulted for being "proud to be an American", but nobody cares if anyone else is proud to be whoever they are. Are YOU proud to live where YOU do? I suppose that makes you think your life somehow "supercides" others of a different culture.

Our women are dying in Iraq too. But of course, that is beyond the point isn't it? First of all, please don't assume that American's feel our life (or our way of life) is better than those of a different culture. Because most of us don't. It was not the American's who drove us into war, it was our Congress. When 911 happened, there was no vote offerred before Bush sent in the troops. We did not have a choice. In fact, I would bet my life savings, that had there been a vote (go to war or tighten our homeland security) we would have chosen anything but war. Sure we were the ones who voted on who went to Congress and who became president. However, out of the millions of people eligible to vote in each state, only one person serves as representative. And that is based on a collective. I didn't vote for Bush, yet he still became president. TWICE! Get the picture? I, among millions of other Americans, would prefer our country mind it's own business, and tend to it's own citizens rather than interfere with other cultures. But it's not up to just a few million people. Get the facts, the real facts, before assuming that All American's think our life is more important than yours.

Do you realize there is a spell check on here?

Anyway, to you question: I'm glad I am American. The lifestyle suites me. I feel our lifestyle is better than some; i.e., I neither live in a war zone nor grew up in one. We don't starve unless we neglected opportunity. We have good medical care. I was permitted to chose my own career and marry the person on my own choice. And I can buy stuff I like. For me, that is much better than many cultures. However, I realize I am a product of my environment, and if I had been born somewhere else I might have a different outlook on life. You obviously have a chip on your shoulder and hold some resentment toward Americans but you failed to tell us where you are from. Do you think that place is better?

i grow to be born and raised in Niagara Falls, Canada....and used to paintings in as a Chef in the vacationer district. The lack of understanding and conceitedness of human beings from long island State, superb over the border, grow to be thoroughly remarkable. yet, the 1000's of hundreds of holiday makers from different places world huge are many times a delight to be around, answer their user-friendly, trustworthy questions and that they many times make the attempt to income somewhat approximately the place they are going, community customs and the guidelines formerly they get here. no another than human beings holiday in yet another usa, then whine and whinge while issues are not carried out the yank way.
