Can anyone give me any suggestions on what I can do to sooth his gums? I tried the washcloth and he screams. Only thing I found is having my finger in his mouth putting pressure on his gum but I cant do that 9 hours of the day. Yes he is teething confirmed by the doctor. The doctor tells me to let him cry it out hes too young for anbesol.

He is to young to hold a teething ring. I have heard of the whiskey thing but wondered if it truely worked.

i'll get flamed for this, but it worked for my mother and i used it in my children. DIp your finger in some whiskey and rub it on their gums.

Definitely teething rings or maybe a small ice cube in a washcloth for your lil one to knaw on. I'm a mom of two and never heard or experienced a child teething so young. I feel for you. Try to be patient, I wish your doctor would have given you some alternatives to help soothe your baby's pain other than saying he's too young for anbesol. Also, give him some infants tylenol to help ease the pain. Good Luck :)

Oh that's sad. My 9 mth old has some paci's (Mami brand) that are for teething. They have ribs on the nipple part that is supposed to help soothe gums. I found them at Kmart. maybe you could try refridgerating your baby's paci's? The freezer gets them too cold I think.
I might try the whiskey thing too if nothing else worked. They had to use something way back when before they invented anbesol?!

Try giving him some Medised or calpol as a pain relief.
There is not much you can do for a young baby, but try again with the wash cloth or a teether, you can get one shaped like a dummy to trick them!! Bonjela is good but does not last long.
With my baby who is teething I gave her a sippy cup that she has to bite the teat to get the juice out & that has worked but it depends on whether your baby can hold the cup or figure out that he has to bite it.
