There is a way to do this, but it's not as easy as your "person" suggests. This has to be a legal document spelled out fully revoting parental rights and responsibilities, and in certain circumstances, like some others have said, it could make the mother ineligible for public support.
In short, do NOT trust the word of the other person regarding child support. No matter what they say, no matter how many promises they make not to seek child support, wrap it up, or expect to pay big.

There are several ways.

1. Lose your job and your house, then plead no income.

2. Encourage the mother to get married and adopt the child.

3. Go into a coma for a long time, or get a big case of an aggressive cancer and claim medical hardship because of the bills.

I do not know of anyway you can just walk into a court and stop paying without a HUGE reason. You can give up your rights as a parent but that does not get you off the support hook.

This is kind of like taxes- there are lots of 'get out of this' scams out there, but none of them really work.

I can't believe someone would even try to weasel their way out of paying child support. That just flat out sucks!!! That child didn't ask to be here. That child is here only because your "friend" couldn't keep it in his pants. He could of just had a cold shower! I think it's bad enough that this person doesn't even want to have anything to do with the child, but to not help to care financially? You can't just live on air you know. I can only think of two ways a man can get out of paying child support. If the man has a DNA test and finds out that the child isn't biologically his or if the man is dead.

Here are some suggestions for your "friend":

- he should quit getting cheap amageur "legal advice" from other deadbeat dads

- and he should man up and PAY HIS DAMNED CHILD SUPPORT!!!

He wasn't complaining when he was on top of that woman making that baby, was he? Oh, he was "the man" back then.

And I'm sure he spent lots of money to get that chick in the sack, didn't he?? Lots of high priced drinks at bars, dinners at expensive restaurants, movie tickets, lots and lots of gifts - he spared no expense back then right?

Now, that there is a child in this world, who never asked to be here and who wants nothing more in this world than to have two loving parents, he's being a cheap stingy b**tard who won't ante up and pay his support.

Tell your boy to pay up, and quit trying to be a weasel - because it's the right thing to do.

No. The only ways to get out of child support is to die, or for the mother to have the biological father sign all parental rights away or if another man adopts the child as his own.

Unless the Mother agrees that she does not want child support from the father, he will be held responsible. But you know for your (Friend) There is another way to look at this also. Getting Involved with the child's life and opening up yourself to your child's love, can make a new man out of (him) and do wonders for making the child a well balanced person.

PS, My Son lived with his mother untill he was 7 and ended up living with me because I did take become a major part of his life and it was his mothers suggestion, I didnt charge her child support but after 3 years she up and took him and filed for child support, I fought it because my son said he wanted to me with me. guess who pays me child support

My boyfriend got a letter stating that his daughters mother is taking him to court to have her child support pmts (which are 50 a mth) suspended while she goes to college. She has a child also from another relationship and says she has no income. She does have a girlfriend who usually pays her bills but must have tired of paying. Anyway can she have them suspended while she does her thing and goes to college.

In some states that scenario is possible however both have to agree for the dissolution of parental custody of the child. The mother however needs to be aware that in those same states that she also may be making herself inelgible for state programs for the child assistance so for the most part the "mothers" don't usually agree to this dissolution.

Judges don't let you sign your parental rights away to avoid child support payments. Giving up your rights is mostly done in adoption cases.
