I was told that as of 12/01/06 there is a new law that states that your employer has to monitor your e-mails.

Dunno about a new law, but they have always had the right to monitor your emails.

There is no such law. However most employers DO monitor your computer activity, so watch what you do. Any inappropriate activity could be grounds for termination. There are programs they used that will see every keystroke you type, every website you visit, etc.

As far as monitoring emails...They own the system...They 'own' the software...Any emails that you send are thiers. :)
I believe that the new law is that they have to have a record of the email/IM ect...and that they can not get rid of it after time. most companies will overwrite backups, after getting another one. it is going to be a real pain for the IT industry.

Yep and they do not need a law to do it. It is already accepted under a 1972 ruling.
