I am just wondering about the shape of things to come for music retailers. Will we see the CD disappear off the shelevs in favour for kiosks or units which you can download tracks from? Will we see more bands use the stores a mini event spaces etc Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Would be really good to get a global perspective on this. Something is going to happen - so what does the world think?!

I think that eventually all music will be downloaded. I hope that it will put more power into the bands themselves selling directly on the net, although I am sure that the massive record giants will counteract that taking more and more control of the media stations to get their music played. Mobile phone technology will also take over more and more as a media device.

There's always a place for a player and guitar though!

Some form of permanent audio storage (vinyl, CD, DVD-A, etc.) will always be around.

This is because there are many, many people who favour sound quality over convenience. Not everyone wants to listen to poor quality music reproduction from a nasty plastic box.

A good qulaity hi-fi setup will blow every iPod, MP3 player, or whatever, into the weeds where sound quality is concerned.

to some of us the whole package is as important as the music, maybe im just old, but i remember being as intrested in the artwork and inserts that some bands put in as i was the music, that died a little when it became mainly cd`s but actually having the physical item in front of me ,stood on a shelf or whatever is part of the reason i like music
