a singular matrix is a matrix whose determinant is '0'!!
so ur answer is.........

(a*a-2*8)= 0
=> a^2-8=0
=>a^2=8
=>a=square root of 8!

the answer has both positive and negative value!!
so answer is +sqrt(8),-sqrt(8) !!!!!!!
