NASA to set up a permanent lunar base? Isn't there one there already? I'm sure they had one by 1999, most definitely by 2001...

(how else did they manage to dig out that monolith?)

Indeed the 1999 space station wasn't built by NASA. I think it was operated by the Gerry Anderson Corporation, who also ran International Rescue.

Yeah, it was 1999. I saw it on the telly too though I don't think that was NASA.

A permanent lunar base would include sources of inter and intra planet communication, power and water. It would provide basic hygiene facilities. Air for mammals to breath without wearing cumbersome mask, and food storage both short and long term would be required. And the list goes on ... I don't think this has yet been constructed/erected on the moon.

For gods sake don't let the British get involved in it. The whole thing will just get finished and we would introduce a residents parking permit scheme!

I wonder whose idea that was to set up a lunar base? With all the tax I payout, I at least own the front door handle or the welcome mat.
