Define young.
Under 7 or so, I was stuck in whatever my parents picked out for me. Which was usually pretty dresses and skirts (which I loved) and corduroy pants (which I hated) with the ugliest tops. Jeans were not that popular for little girls at the time (gee, I'm showing my age.)
After that, through my teens, it was jeans and tees. Sweatshirts when it was cold. And my shoes were always sneakers. Very rarely did I ever dress up at all, unless I had to for special occasions or family functions.

I was a tomboy. I wore the same kind of crap you probably wear, unless you like to dress up like a little girl.
