you are told that the volume of a sphere is given by v = 4 pie d^3/3, where v is the volume and d is the diameter of the sphere. Is this equation dimensionally correct?

yes 4 , pi and 3 (it is 'nt 8?) are numbers without dimension, and the volume has the dimension of a Length ^3

yes, V=(4πr^3)/3

Volume should be given in (units_of_length)^3 and in this equation, r(radius) is the only measurement which will have a unit attached to it(unit of length) and that value is cubed in the equation resulting in final units of volume.
