Why the web extension for UK is "co.uk"? For Germany is just de, Poland is pl and so on, so why is here "co.uk"?

.co.uk means company in the uk. you can also get .uk.com which is a uk worldwide company and also .me.uk which just means ME as in you, int he uk, for personal websites..But it is still unfair how USA originally had .com..the simplest of them all.

before personal websites it was all companies that had sites so it was suitable for .co or .com nowadays with websites being more accessible for individuals and organisations that are not companies the .net and other suffixes are more suitable

Very good question .co designates its for companies .org is government .me is for personal use etc. Hope this clears it up for you.

Just as in India it is co.in & not just .in
