All of the PS2 Final Fantasy games have AMAZING graphics for their time and for the system. Despite what others say. The PS1 games are not so great to look at but the storylines are amazing.
Star Ocean is also really amazing, just REALLY long. Like, TOO long. Still fun though.
And you may want to look into Kingdom Hearts, always fun to play with Disney characters!
Few other systems besides PS2 have RPGs and if they do, they suck hardcore. I've TRIED to play numerous ones since I have all the older systems, but they just aren't as smooth or fun!

Depends on the style of RPG you want. If you want old-school then Dragon Quest/Warrior series is truly the best. They are still old-school. Although they don't come out too often. Dragon Warrior 7 was on Playstation and Dragon Quest 8 is the latest and it is on PS2. Still over a year old. Beyond them you have FF6 and back and FF9. All the new Final Fantasy games are a new system and aren't the old school like the first one. Really you almost have to define the style you want to get the best suggestions.

I played final fantasy and it sucked, the graphics are nothing to write back home to. Oblivion however is rather nice.
The Best RPG game i played would be Fable.
Alot of adventure where you play with a hero (you start as a young boy and as the game goes on youre character grows up) and what you do determines what youre going to be Evil/Good it even affects how you look) But in anyway you have to go on this adventure to find out what happen to youre mother and sister and fight a demon.

The Final Fantasy Series are great. Superb game play and story plots. I have played FF3, FF7, FF8 & FF9.
Other RPG games I had loads of good fun with are Breathe of Fire, Grandia and Legend of Dragoon.

Try the RPGs with the Square-Enix brand.(formerly known as SquareSoft) They have great RPG titles like the Final Fantasy series. Also, try looking for Xenogears. That's my personal favorite!

Dungeons and Dragons 1rst version. you do no longer p.c. a computing device or something particular, just some stable acquaintances and a D.M. (I do advise Dungeon grasp). i've got performed and DMed the different 2 variations yet nevertheless prefer the unique. something is a threat with a roll of the cube. This really depends on your system. The Fable series for X-Box is very nice. Playstation offers the Final Fantasy series.
