I have a heater in my aquarium with my baby painted turtle. The house temperature is around 65 and I am wondering what would be the best water temperature to keep at night for the turtles health?

Aim for water temps of 75-80. If the turtle appears to be sluggish, try boosting them a bit to a max of 85. The basking sites should run about 90.

Besides water temps, you also want to address filtration (2-3 times more than a fish tank would need, but such that the turtle is not at risk of gettign sucked in) and lighting that is 'full spectrum' and includes UV-B rays.

Finally, pay good attention to the diet. The sites below have a lot of good ideas for caring for turtles.

Water temp should be in the low 70s. And you'll want to have a basking area with temps in the 90s. Be sure and use a UV light (they're kinda expensive but you should be able to find them at any pet store). The turtles will malnutrition if they do not have UV light to bask in. Alongside the UV light you can use a regular heating lamp to provide light and basking temperature.

But try to have your water in the low 70s -- no higher as that will invite growth of fungus and bacteria.

the water temp should be around 72-76 degrees all the time, not just at night. and there basking area should be around 90. they sell turtle heaters that stay the same temp all the time.
