I am planning a roadtrip from Bangalore to Guruvayur in Kerala. I hear that there are two options - one through hosur, krishangiri, salem and Coimbatore. The other through Mysore. Can someone please provide me complete directions and distance for the two routes and also suggest which road is in better condition for the journey? I plan to drive in my car.

As one who had been to Guruvayur Kshetram with family by car from Bangalore in October I can suggest the following route:

Bangalore, Krishnagiri Dharmapuri,Salem,Bhavani and Avinashi. then take a bypass Road after Avinashi skipping Coimbatore which joins near Valayar in Palghat Road. Proceed to Guruvayur via Alathur, Vadakkanssery and Trissur.or direct to Guruvayur skipping Trissur. But we broke the journey for a day's stay at Palghat. Instead if you desire you can proceed direct to Guruvayur Kshetram. Roads are uniformly good except some stretches in between Krishnagiri and Salem and Valayar to Palghat. While on our return we took Ooty route via Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Kottagiri, Ooty. From Ooty I would suggest you to take Masanagudi, Mysore Route. But I am told due to recent rains the roads are very bad. If you are not particular in visiting Ooty, you can return to Bangalore by the same route via Salem and Krishnagiri. I wish you all the Best to have safe journey and the Darshan of Sri Guruvayurappan. I have written in detail about our Pilgrimage in my blog:
