I wanna know who and why people think emos cut. I do not do this, my sister does not do this, and no emo or goth I kno does this. Niether do I threaten about killing myself, and nor does my sister or friends. It is.................tastless. If you cut yourself, it aint none of my business, and if you threaten to kill yourself, that aint none of my business niether. But why, just because sum emos cut, do ppl think all emos cut?

emotionally disturbed people cut, and since "emo" stands for emotional, they automatically connect that with cutting... people are ignorant... just don't let it bug you, they do that to me, but I don't label myself as emo or anything else at that matter.... I have cut but that was years ago... and new people I meet assume that... and I just ignore it, that's the only thing you can do.... they are dumb and their opinion should not matter...

almost every one I know used to cut and not because they were apart of some specific group, but because either:
A) They like Pain
B) They want the attention
C) They are suicidal and there is the off chance that they will kill themselves
People assume that all emos and goths do this because they assume that all emos are over-emotional and depressed and that goths hate the world and want to die...
All of the above is not true for every emo or goth but its been excepted as true...
I'm sorry everyone thinks you cut!

Speaking as a recovered Cutter, I may have an answer for you. People think emo's cut because they seem to embrace a lifestyle that allows depression and gloom. Thus, when you are depressed, you are more likely to do stupid things like self-harm or concider suicide. If you know anyone who does this (and it should be your business, it's serious!) talk to them and let them know that they are not alone and they have someone to talk to. I had no one when I Cut and I was on the verge of suicide. I couldn't call my friends, they were disgusted by the fact I made myself bleed. I couldn't talk to my boyfriend at the time. I gave him the chance (even handed him my razors so I could quite) and he wouldn't even broach the subject.
Cutting is a deep personal issue. It stems from depression and repression of emotion. (Does this sound like the stereotype of an emo? It does to me) It is affecting many high schoolers and adults and can lead to disfigurement, social problems, bleeding disorders and even more depression. Those who Cut don't want to be discovered (9 times out of 10) and carry this shameful secret. They need understanding.

basically, they are sterotyping you. i know a person that wears black all the time, and they call her goth, and she is not. emo is just another word for emotinal. it doesnt mean that you cut.

Just a trend. It all started from goth culture. It's just a way to look cool and in with it, so you can be part of the crowd, nothing more.
