My baby is 3 months old now. His alert time is between 12 and 4 am. Then he sleeps and wakes up at 3 pm (waking in between that time for feeds only). Then he wakes up and sleeps rotating 0.5 to 1 hour until about 8 or 9 and sleeps until the schedule starts again. Any suggestions on how i can make him switch so that his alert time is in the morning?

This will sound strange to a lot of people, but this is what I had done for my son, who was driving me insane with his horrible sleeping pattern.
I took him to my kinesiologist. There is a technique they can use to access a specific time of day, sort of taking them back to that time to see what the body's doing (a bit like hypnotic regression is the best way I can describe it, although hypnosis has nothing to do with it).
My kinesiologist did this, and adjusted whatever it was in his body that was affecting his body clock, and since then he sleeps so much better, I can hardly believe the difference.
Most people will probably say that's poppycock, but it's what worked for me.

You really need to try and keep him up longer during the morning hours. It just sounds like somehow he has managed to confuse his night and day times. He sounds like he sleeps long stretches and can make it during the night without waking frequently. I would just try really hard to keep him up during those morning hours when he normally sleeps...say starting about 7 am. It will be rough at first because you both will be tired and he may fuss, but it will be worth it in the long run. It shouldn't take a really long time for the schedule to start to change. I would also recommend that you read "babywise"; it is a really good book that helps you set a loose routine for your baby. It helps them to develop healthy sleep habits as well. Your whole family will be happier once you all get a good nights rest (at the proper time of day)! Good luck; I know this is tough... hang in there...

keep him up. give him a bath in the morning. play with him don't allow him to sleep until you think its a good time. that will be his nap times. then at about 7 or so put him to bed and don't allow him to wake up at 12 and stay awake feed him and put him back in his crib and tell him to go night night. Keep this up and soon he will have a new sleep pattern. Good luck.

Keep the child up longer in the current rotation, then wake the child in the morning and they will eventually get on your schedule.()
