Venn diagrams are merely pictorial representations of sets and how they relate to each other. They help us to see and understand more clearly what we are thinking abstractly. They function much the same way that other diagrams and graphs do when we solve word problems.

Venn diagrams are used to compare and contrast things. When you combine two circles there are three cirlces the middle one for similarities and the side ones for differences
