He's looking for a positive response from you. If you respond positively to his advances, shouldn't be too long before he wants to take it a step further. ie: hanging out together/dating
If you are reacting positively to him he may be a little nervous about asking you. But give it a little time for him to become at ease with you. He'll ask when he's comfortable with you. And it seems a lot of "traditional values" are getting tossed by the wayside these days so if he's hesitating about asking you, you could always ask him.
