Here is the deal I have TiVo now and all of a sudden I have experience difficutlties connecting to there services when you do updates. I called tivo last night and they said that my phone does not have a stable connected to connect with them and they can't do anything about it either. If it connects that is great and if not oh well basically. Expect i have never changed my phone or the phone service so why would it work and now it doesn't.

Anyways do you think I should try and fix TiVo and if I do should I keep TiVo or go with my cable dvr box?

In opinions thanks

I have never tried TiVo, I've only tried DVR and I love it. Once I got used to it, it was really easy to use and haven't ever had problems with it. I can't tell you it is better than TiVo, but I do know that TiVo can't be much better.

I originally had Tivo for 2 years, then went to Comcast Motorola DVR, when I bought HD service and a plasma this year. Besides the interface on the Tivo, Comcast's advantages outweigh Tivo's.

Tivo Pros
1) Great, easy to use interface.
2) Season pass, search by keywords, suggestions.
3) Can send recordings to your computer for archving or watching.
4) Can change recording quality to decrease file size.
5) You can use it to watch movies that you downloaded from the internet.

Tivo Cons
1) No component, DVI or HDMI output
2) No HDTV unless you want to spend $800.
3) A little expensive fee of $12.95/month.
4) No surround sound

Comcast DVR Pros

1) Records HDTV
2) HDMI out
3) Only $5/month extra
4) Surround sound

Comcast DVR Cons

1) Horrible interface
2) No suggestions or keyword searches.
3) No settings to reduce recording quality.
4) Cannot talk or transfer files from the DVR to the computer.

There have been rumors for the past year that Comcast was going to integrate Tivo into their systems, but have not seen or heard anything from Comcast.
