You can buy options on indices, stocks, etc. So, the variety is almost unlimited.

For an experienced investor, options are no riskier than stocks.
The important word there is EXPERIENCED. If you don't know what you're doing, then options are very risky.

You would be better off to learn all you can about the stock market, stock picking, etc.
