There are several kinds. It is usually the container that you can not put the material in that is important.

Certain solvents can not go in certain plastics because the plastic will dissolve or warp.

Acids can not be put in metal containers because the will corrode.

HF can not go in glass.

those that are hazardous, but you must be sensitive to the reactions possible which is why acids are stored in glass while bases are stored in plastic
