First check that it is all connected properly, check that it is connected to your modem in the right way, and that if you are using a host computer that it is connected to that as well. There should be a reset button on the back of the router; try pressing that, or, as the previous answer suggested, try turning it off, waiting for 15 secs then turning it back on again. Can you connect to the internet when you connedct straight to the modem? This rules out an ISP problem, which is sometimes the case. Finally, the actual connections are very rarely the problem-try reinstalling the router, or configuring your wireless network settings, both on your host computer and any laptop or device you may be using with it. Hope this helps in some way.

i've bought 3 netgear routers now (1 for me, 1 for my dad, 1 for my Brother-in-Law).
I havent had any problems with any of them, unfortunately your router is going to be much newer than any of mine (most recent was 2 years ago) so the instructions may not match.
the number 4 is the 4th physical network connection, so make sure your network cable (router to PC) is plugged into the 4th port

Please call the toll free number on the papers with that Netgear part, so that:
1. you get instant and correct answers.
2. They learn that the directions need to be USER FRIENDLY!
3. They find that there might be a warranty issue for you
4. the rest of us will also get better products, from your feedback.
5. They improve their totally crappy junk... Most of us buy Linksys!!
And, if you don't do toll free phone calls, try them on the Internet!!!
But, all my customers take Netgear back, and buy Linksys! We have ALWAYS had rotten luck with Netgear!

Take it back to the shop and buy Belkin- much easier to set up and FREE Technical support. We were using Netgear but had to turn security off to get my laptop on the network, their tech support hung up on us then said it was the centrino in my laptop - it was actually just their crappy product.
Either that or reset the router and try again.
