there are +'s and -'s to both. The best method for a static pc is internally, if you have 2(or more) pc's then you can share the unit. Internal writers are by far cheaper also, from about £25 , external's are around £60+

Get it installed internally. Internally DVD writer is connected through ID which is faster than USB.

I think you better have one installed because it is cheaper and if you want to transport data from one computer to another you better buy an USB stick because the DVD is too big to be carried around. On USB stick you can fast write and delete information, the DVD is slower.

External drives are slower, noisier and cost a lot more than internal drives. Go with internal it is quite simple to install. I'm sure you could pick up a tutorial online and print it off for when your ready to put it in.
Good Luck

Unless you are going to be using it on more than one PC, I find no reason why you should go in for an external writer as it suffres from the following drawbacks:-
It is more expensive
It takes space on your table

The internal means the one installed is best one.

installed. it's a direct link. your burner can only react as fast as the cable it's linked with if it's external.
