We always recycle ours anyway - you can either put it in with normal paper recycling if it's white, or composting if it's brown or rougher paper. I use tissue paper too, it's just as effective, more fun to get into and recycles/reuses more effectively
We also reuse it, which is even better than recycling as the energy isn't wasted breaking it down for re-pulping - I don't see why people regard it as a bad thing to reuse untorn wrapping paper. One of my friends and I always joke when we swap pressies that we'll just swap the wrapping paper for next year, or next birthday, and we always do!
And as for buying recycled wrapping paper - there are LOADS of websites on google referring to it, including the one below: http://www.treecycle.com/catintro.html

It is a great idea and in all actuality ALL wrapping paper IS recyclable - if folks will do it! My family and I have found that wallpaper (the non-stick kind) makes a wonderful, sturdy wrapping paper. It's thick, and cheap, as we shop for the out-of-season paper. Our packages always gets tons of compliments because the wallpaper makes the gifts look SO GOOD!!!!!! Enjoy & God bless!

its done so that the gifts are a surprise until you open them. It wouldnt be as fun on C-mas if you woke up and went downstairs and under the tree were all the gifts unrwraped. I dont know if they make recycled gift wrap, but you can surely recycle your gift wrap, just stick it in with your newspaper print in the recycle bin! Happy Holidays!

Of course it would be a good idea. We should recycle as much as possible. Our local council fines you if, as a domestic user, you recycle incorrectly or fail to recycle. And yet this council collects paper from businesses and dumps it in a landfill. They refuse to recycle it. I think the council should be fined. What an example to set.

i've never seen recycled wrapping paper, it probably exists, but is it any good? make sure you recycle what you receive your gifts in this year, either your regular recycle bag/bin or go to tescos, you can recycle cards there too i believe.

When I was a kid, we always saved wrapping paper. We'd cut off the scotch tape, smoothe out the paper, fold it, and store it. Yes, it would be a good idea, but we live in a throw-away society.

you dont always have to use wrapping paper ... grab a nice gift bag from the card store and use that with some tissue paper... people are more likely to "reuse" the bad if its pretty enough especially around the holiday season ...i know i have had some "last min" wrapping to do in the past so i just grab a gift bag thats nice looking and reuse it.... plus its wuicker than taping and cutting.. :)

You can get recycled wrapping paper but in my opinion it's awful and just rips when you fold it.
