I figure my partner couldn't have loved me when we first started as over the years she's done her best to change me. And she's done it in such a way that for a long time I believed I made the changes because I wanted to. Now I realise I was forced. Without starting WW3, just how can I subtley change things back?

You can't change back. You're screwed. You're living a lie to please a woman, my bet is she's constantly unhappy and somehow blames YOU for her misery. I'll bet she tells you how to dress, who to be friends with, and SHE'LL decide whether you can go to a Super Bowl Party with your buddies. When you have to tip-toe around someone, get out!

Women ALWAYS change men... Some for good, some for bad... If you aren't happy with the new you, then change back...

And if she doesn't like it, split and DIVORCE!!! That'll teach her... :D
