a "HUB" refers to many things. the first things that come to mind are

HUB used for connecting computers together for sharing resources and information

HUB cap which protects your cars wheel components from dust and weather

HUB or slang for HUBBY which is used for pretty much anything you wish from footrubs and massage to cooking cleaning and entrtaining friends

A hub is a device that receives data from one or more directions and forwards data to one or more other destinations. It is the physical location where data converges. It does not provide any routing or switching services.
A hub also allows you to use multiple computers at the same time.
