Prisoners clean their own cells and the common areas inside a jail. Every day, if necessary.
Most prisons have a dining room and have the prisoners eat in shifts. Most prisons have prisoners do the work in the kitchen, with paid employees planning and supervising.
They eat food "fit for human consumption" which might mean class C rated. Much of it you would not find in a grocery store. It either does not look too good or taste too good.

iinmates clean their own cells, prisons feed better than county jails, in prisons imates do the cooking cleaning and all the work, county jails hire cooks, who are usually blind and have no tatse buds

I think they have janitors and they probably clean it once a day im guessing. They probably eat really crappy meals in the cafeteria i think and they have servers.
