if youre in the uk you need to do the cbt course, its not a test,it stands for compulsary basic training and thats exactly what it is,its a days training with a qualified instructor at an approved training body.if your aged 17 or over you will then be legal to ride upto a 125 on the roads displaying L plates.its not a difficult day, most students thoroughly enjoy themselves, expect to pay from 70-120quid depending on where you are.hope this helps you,go book a cbt and enjoy riding.

I live in Florida and to be on the highway here you have to pass a written test to get a temporary "motorcycle endorsement" added to your drivers license. To get a permanent motorcycle endorsement you have to take a riding test on a course. It's tough but with a smaller motorcycle like a 125 you should be fine. Without the endorsement on your drivers license, you can be arrested if caught.

I was caught a few years ago without the MC endorsement on my license. The officer gave me a ticket and told me I could be arrested, although they didn't.

CBT

This test things like your general bike handling. Can you start and stop safely? Is your slow speed handling sufficient to negotiate cones? Can you perform an emergency stop?

You need this before you can look at your full test anyway.
