Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol.
His early childhood was quite idyllic for the time - he had sporadic education, his family weren't starving, but when he was 12 he had to work in a boot-blacking factory to support his family after his father was imprisoned for debts.
It was this time of his life, working in the factory pasting labels on jars of boot polish for a pittance of 6 shillings a week for a relative of his mothers that made him resent the conditions of working class people - and this is a major theme in all his later work.
So up until he was 12, I'd say he had a nice if not spectacular childhood for the time, but after his father went to prison he had a much more difficult time for a year until he returned to school at 13.

Charles Dickens, the same man who wrote the well renowned novel a Tale of Two Cities, in which the longest paragraph ever written in literature exists, is the same man who wrote A Christmas Carol.
Dickens grew up in London, England. He was poor, but determined, and eventually became one of the most well known writers of today, even though he lived back in the 1800s. He loved to read as a child, which prompted his love of writing.
What else would you like to know about Dickens?

Charles Dickens wrote a christmas carol, as well as many other classics. From what I remember he was very poor as a child and had to go to work early as his father was in debtors prison.

There is another book under the title "Christ mass at the mountains" by Altamirano. At a moment he was, if I recall properly, a POW in the mid nineteen century.
