My roommates have been badgering me to go out with them. Three months ago, my roommate's brother came for a visit and joined in on the badgering. He was extremely annoying and to get him off my back I agreed to go with him the next time he came to town. Well, to my disappointment he's coming back to town. The reason I don't want to go out with these girls is, as paranoid as this sounds, that I suspect that the only reason they want me to go is some sort of joke. They have a history of playing cruel immature jokes on me in order to get a laugh. They have a reputation for being reckless and I can only imagine the trouble I would get in. They won't take "no" or "I don't want to" or any type of excuses that involve studying or illness for an answer. Any suggestions?

Make plans to do something else FAST! Have a friend or family member call & say they need you.

Here's an idea... Go out and maybe have some fun with them. If you don't like the experience, then you have an excuse not to ever go again. It couldn't be any worse than being badgered constantly. It sometimes pays off to try new things, even if you don't think you will like it.

I would tell them it's their fault that you are NOT going out with them because of the cruel, lame jokes they seem to want to play on you. And, you might want to start looking for some decent roommates!

Oh I used to have the same problem, only mine would invite me out so they could interrogate me about how weird they thought I was, and to try and get me so drunk I'd do something stupid that they could relay back to their friends.

I used to:
- Just go out when they're about to leave.
- Don't answer your door and pretend to be out when they knock
- Get on the phone and pretend your friend is having a crisis and needs you to talk
- Invite a friend over and stay in with them, making it clear you're having heaps more fun with them

plan a vacation or ask one of your friend if you can stay on her place for the meantime..
don't come home unless she's gone.. bring everything you need and don't say anything to your roommates..
don't give them any hint that you are avoiding them.. just go and leave as quiet as u can and turn ur cel off for them.

Tell them you've developed social anxiety disorder and can't go out until you see a Dr.

What do you mean they won't take no. Tell them no, and go to the library. Study.
