I remember the Black and White Minstrel show and I do not think anyone was offended by it, it was good entertainment

Well I certainly was not offended by it!! Watching it at the time, it never ever crossed my mind that it was racist/offensive. Some of the singers had truely lovely voices, the show was colourful (no pun intended) and thoroughly entertaining. It was on for a long time, don't believe in those days "PC" was an issue. Whether black people were offended by it I don't know, but seeing how it was on TV for a number of years, proves I think that nobody (or not many) could have reported it for offensive material, otherwise it would have been taken off air much sooner. Especially in the light of "Auntie Beeb" in their early days!!

I remember it as a kid. Don't remember it being offensive, but I suppose the black community were not too happy about white men pretending to be blacks. I'm sure there may have been a real black one though.

They only took it off the air because it wasn't PC enough

Looking back at it now it seems really WEIRD! But back then it was normal.

yeh that show terriable, but people had no consept of why it was wrong back then.they really show of though
