The Chinese food that Chinese people eat is healthy. What you get at most Chinese restaurants in the US is not true Chinese food and is as bad as, or worse than, most fast food places. I remember reading this in Dear Abby once. A lady complained about her husband wanting to eat at Chinese restaurants all the time on the grounds it was healthy and she was sick of it. Abby replied with the information above, and considering what's usually on the Chinese buffets around here, it can't be very healthy (lots of fattening sauces, etc.)

Real chinese food, not the chow mein stuff that Americans love, is very healthy.

If you stay away from too much oil and msg, basically the chinese cooking method is quite healthy. Watch out for using too many sauces as these contain msg also.

It's not exactly bad for you, think about it....do you see very many fat Chinese people?

However, Americanized Chinese food does have MSG in it, which is supposed to be bad for you, but as in all things, moderation is key.

if you eliminate the MSG many oriential foods would be quite healthy indeed. did you know that in ancient China it was considered barbaric to use a knife and fork while eating at the table? That's why they cut the meat in small pieces beforehand and used chop sticks to eat.

Hell No. Do you think Chinese people actually eat that slop? They feed that crap to North Americans.

I have heard that it isn't very good for you besides the steamed vegetables in some of the low mein or chow mein meals.

it depends on the cook himself.
it won't be if he adds in plenty of addictives: eg. MSG.
but they have significantly lower calories than other fast food.
if you want it healthy, try porridge
