"There were an awful lot of your letters that have come back with corrections". I feel so disappointed. I thought I did so well. So, I just laughed it off, but it hurts.

This secretary tends to pick at my faults. I'm a young temp, she an oldish permanent one. It did later transpire that a lot of the 'mistakes' were, in fact changes of mind of the boss.

Bridget F - whilst I appreciate your reply, you obviously don't know that Yahoo! Answers comes with a ? mark after each entry/question. It seems we're both lacking knowledge in different areas. Good luck and bless.

Some people just love nagging someone about anything or jealousy.

Criticism can be hurtful but I am sure they did not mean to hurt your feelings. There is no shame in making mistakes, as long as you learn from them.

If people are paying you to write letters, it is essential that your English is of a good standard and that you do not make mistakes.

Even in your question here, there are some grammatical mistakes, which suggests that you are not 100% confident in your English.
"I can do no right" should be "I cannot do anything right".
The question mark after "said to me" is wrong, as you have not asked a question.

When you get the letters back, look at the corrections and learn from them.

Try reading good quality writing (eg the BBC News website or a
quality newspaper like the Times) to improve your English.

Good luck!

It depends on whether the person who wrote the letter has changed their mind in which case it is not your fault. I'm a secretary too and hate getting letters back!! Bugs me for ages. It'll get better just hang in there.

Why don't you double check or proof read your work before it gets passed to the boss? If you can do that you will hopefully pick up any mistakes you might have made so no-one need ever know?

Use a word editor to write your letters. MS Word or something. That way all your spelling and gramatical errors can be corrected before printing.
