I was 10. My dad used to fall asleep on the couch and snore very loudly. If it woke me up, I would go out and tell him to get up and go to bed. So on this particular Christmas Eve, he was snoring so loudly, but from their bedroom across the hall. I got up as usual and headed for the living room to wake him up, and ran into and almost knocked over my new ten-speed bike. It was a weird feeling of excitement, a little disappointment, and then fear as I scrambled back to my bedroom thinking I would get in trouble for discovering this!! So the rest of the night I cooked up how I would have to act suprised in the morning. I did pretty well, but a few months down the road admitted what happened. I of course was not in trouble, but I figured I'd better let my parents in on the fact that I knew the truth.

The End

Santa is a wonderful story for children. He lives in a magical land where the only job is to make children happy. I have wonderful memories of believing in Santa. Growing up in a Catholic family and attending Catholic School, I was taught the proper place of Santa. (Today there are figurines of Santa kneeling before the child Jesus.) Learning that Santa is not real was a rite of passage. Learning that the spirit of Santa, of giving and making people happy was also an important part of my development.

Actually, I am 57 years old and I still believe that the Spirit of Santa Clause is very real. I hope the Spirit of giving, never becomes unreal.

I was about 9 yrs old and I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bath room and saw my mom getting my bike from under her bed. I was so upset I went back to bed and wet myself and cried myself back to sleep.. It took all the fun out of Christmas for me that year, and the next morning my goes "look what Santa brought you". I started crying again.. so now my 3yr old believes in Santa and I like it that way..

Never, my parents didn't like the story of Santa claus taking away from the real story of christmas. They didn't want me to forget what it was all about.
