I think its because they want to make sure they create a well developed exit strategy like they have done for Iraq before committing to New Orleans. (-:
Actually, I think its because the folks in charge (Bush, Cheney) make more money off the companies going into Iraq than whoever would be going into New Orleans.

It is a shame what happened to New Orleans, but like the other member mentioned, there are other parishes still suffering from both storms from 2005 that you don't even hear about. Louisiana was given 3 million dollars for hurricane damage prior to Katrina because New Orleans had been affected that year (don't remember which name) and the repairs were not made and the money is unaccounted for. So, how can the national government trust the local government. Because of this, I wish we had somebody other than what we do to handle Louisiana's business.
After Katrina, it was the responsibility of the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of the State to rebuild. It has taken Ray Nagin almost 14 months to hire anybody to start the process. He is the biggest reason New Orleans has not been rebuilt yet.

This question needs to be answered in two parts.
Firstly I believe that if a country destroys another country for whatever reason, it is down to that country to repair the damage. It should never happened in the first place. This war with Iraq is an illegal war.
Secondly, I also believe that charity should begin at home. New Orleans got a raw deal from the government as far as aid goes and a rebuilding program should have been put into action as soon as this happened for work to start rebuilding New Orleans as soon as it was possible.

i'm truly unhappy for the persons of recent Orleans and need they they could rebuild their lives alongside with the damaged parts of the city. I also believe that u . s . a . of america tries to be each and everything to each and each and anybody interior the international. that is troublesome for the U.S. to stability what we do at residing house and in yet another us of a. we are starting to be ourselves right into a topic in Iraq, no matter if human beings trust it or not, that must be entirely incorrect to drag our troops out till their able to be more advantageous suited self supportive. this is more advantageous suited to strive against terrorism in yet another us of a and by no skill right here interior the States. The disaster in New Orleans replaced into lengthy over due and the blame must be spread out over an section, State, and Federal tiers. We were not prepared and with any luck interior the destiny we will be. Iraq is an try in Democracy and us of a construction. a lot of human beings take with no interest residing right here. do exactly not ignore that it took years for Germany and Japan to rebuild after international warfare ll.

The US is rebuilding New Orleans, just not throwing as much money at it as they are Iraq.
The US destroyed Iraq and nature destroyed New Orleans.
Citizens of New Orleans have known forever that the levies would not handle a direct hit from a hurricane, yet they did nothing themselves to fix the situation.
Citizens of Iraq were just blindly living their lives before we purposefully invaded them and destroyed their country and their homes.
And even as a child, I was taught if you broke someone else's things, you had to pay to fix them.

Because the U.S. has been promising to rebuild Iraq and "free" it From oppression. So it can either break it's promise and have to deal with a civil war in Iraq , or rebuild, or get out of there as soon as they can.

Is anyone else tired about hearing about New Orleans...yes terrible horrible etc...no one is denying that but what about the places in Mississippi that the hurricane destroyed 90% of the homes what about the parishes that were actually hit by the Hurricane? Why don't we hear about them? Easy because they got to work and did something. Instead we keep on hearing about N.O. and their incompetent leaders that they re-elected and why isn't the Federal Government doing the job their jobs for them.

In the 1970's the US Government gave big bucks to N.O. to build up the Levy. they built a stadium and got new signs for down town. Everyone screams about states rights and then want the Federal Boob to suck on. Sorry The US Gov has no authority to do this unless requested by the State Government. Millions have already flooded the area. N. O. should never have been built, it is below sea level. Enough money has been thrown into that hole.
