"it doesn't have to be right, just write" Best piece of advice i ever received regarding writing anything - short stories, essays, thesis.
Basically write something anything regardless of how good/bad you think it is (this is heaps easy with computers) and it should get you over the block. Once you've got your inspiration back you can decide what to keep or get rid of. Staring at blank screen/paper won't help

I am an author, with several books published, and I don't have to worry much about writers block anymore. I can usually find a way around it. I have included a link to an article I wrote awhile back about ten tips for overcoming writers block. If you get a chance, you might want to read it, because it might help you break the block. Good luck to you!

The best way to overcome writer's block, in most cases, is to write. Inspiration, even if it doesn't come today, will eventually. Of course there are times when we've been working our tails off and what we really need is a rest, but usually when you sit down and find you can't write, do it anyway. I always tell people to go somewhere they love and freewrite (writing nonstop with no destination) it out.

One suggestion made to me that seems to work is doing snapshots. You just write a descriptive paragraph about what you see around you. Like the snow falling outside your window. The picture your children make reading a book. The sights you love at holiday's. The way the sun hits the branches of a bare tree...You try to catch the mood, the lighting, the details. In just a paragraph. It really seems to free things up when you change focus for a bit. Good luck & Happy Holidays.

Just start typing whatever is on your mind. You don't need to start at the beginning. Whatever has been floating in your mind about the subject you are writing on. Walk away from it for a day or two. Then re-read what you wrote. You will be surprised how easy it will be then to edit with more creativity, grammar, spelling ,etc. Good Luck!

What I do is listen to some music and freewrite. Move away from what you are stuck on and work on something else. The music depends on what ever I am working on at the moment. Remember to sometimes it helps to just write. You can always go back and fix it later.

I just finished taking a writing class and FREEWRITING was our method to unblock. Just like everyone is saying. Pick up a pen/pencil or start typing everything that comes to mind for 5 minutes. It doesn't need to make sense so long as you get out every thought that comes to mind. Try it out.
P.S. don't worry about spelling just do it!
