Warm up should definitely be dynamic i.e. on the move. Jogging, skipping, knees up, heels up the back. Only when fully warmed up in this manner should any stretching be done.

Warming down is equally important for recovery of muscles after exercise.

Advantages are obvious, with fewer injuries (if warmup done right), being 'up to speed' immediately activity starts in ernest, reaction time improved etc.

Disadvantages are few, except as mentioned previously, perhaps over stretching before warmed up fully causing injury, or perhaps expending too much energy in the warmup meaning not lasting the pace of the activity so well.

The advantage is that it's meant to prepare the muscles etc. which is meant to prevent injury.
The disadvantage is that it wears you out so that you have no strength left to perform even the smallest activity without at least 3 hours bed rest.

warm muscles stretch easier and are less prone to injury. Warming up allows the body to prepare and engage fully in the task ahead, it shuts down other non-essential processes like your stomach so you don't get a stitch.

The only disadavantage is warming up or any excercise builds up lactic acid in the muscles. But a good warmup sohuld include stretching after an initial burst and stretching removes lactic acid.

warming up before sports help your muscles to get stronger and longer(flexibility). Some people say that you should run before you stretch and others say the other way around. I would do a little bit of both in between each other
