I have a crown aruba boiler ,base board heater . The relief valve keeps leaking while the boiler is firing I already replaced the valve. From this website I believe that my bladder expansion tank is full of water. The only opening in the tank is a tire type petcock. How do I remove the water from the tank?
Thank you

call a pro these tanks are full of pressure and can hurt you if taken apart . also they know how to look for other problems that can cause this to happen . you high limit switch could be defective or your regulator could not be closing all the way .

With the heater down, turn the water coming into the tank off, you have a bladder tank like mine. Turn off line to heaters also. Then open end plug on tank and drain. There should be about 30 psi in the bladder but call the heating place that put it in or, there will be a tag on the tank, a label somewhere on the tank. Close all the valves and open the water valve and see what the pressure is, you may have to recharge the tank to the psi rated. Just charging the tank should bring it back if you know the psi.

you cannot drain the water from the expansion tank and even if you could that would be the wrong way to go just buy an new expansion tank and install it. shut boiler off. drain system till there's no pressure showing on the guage unscrew expansion tank put about 5 wraps of teflon tape on the new one and screw it on. turn the boiler back on and purge the system of all air.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> IF YOUR IN A TIGHT SPOT FOR MONEY GET A COMRESSER AND PUT ABOUT 15 LBS OF AIR IN THE OLD TANK FOR NOW IT WILL GET YOU THROUGH FOR A WEEK. oh and by the way try tapping on the in on the releif valve it might stop it for a little while

If you can't find a drain valve on the tank, you may have to drain the water out through the boiler. make sure you open the vent on the top of the tank or the water will not drain from the tank. another option could be to remove the relief valve and use a small diameter hose to siphon most of the water out of the tank.

The leaking might want to nicely be brought about with the aid of a topic with something else regular gadget pressures are about 12 psi and a diffusion tank might want for use preserve that rigidity as water is being heated. If that tank loses it is air pocket or the diaphragm has ruptured it would want to haven't everywhere to strengthen and pressures will exceed the score of the alleviation valve. Water will commence leaking out and debris can stick contained in the seat no longer allowing it to seal even at the same time as pressures are below the alleviation placing. the boom tank must be checked with the aid of a tech to be effective it is not any longer waterlogged. it truly is the first element to envision at the same time as their is a alleviation valve leaking because regular gadget pressures might want to ought to double before that is assume to holiday. the alleviation valve might want to get replaced at little price as they're in many situations offered at your community ironmongery keep for below $20. keep in ideas those boiler rigidity gages notorious for sticking or getting plugged and no longer tutor the suited rigidity. So immediately ahead I keep a gage with a backyard hose connection my device field so i visit attach to a drain valve to envision it. also make effective your examining the gage proper, some might want to have 2 gadgets of numbers. some tutor the rigidity in ft of water column in case you became the fill line off it is going to finally stop flowing yet no longer till the rigidity drops to 0 lbs.
