Hello there. Majorca is an ideal destination for a family, it's a very diverse island with something for everyone.

If you've booked your own flights, you'll need to take into consideration what you're going to do about transfers to the resort- I'd recommend Alcudia for a family, but unless you're going to hire a car, the transfers by taxi can be expensive as it's so far away from the airport. Puerto Pollensa as suggested by someone else is also lovely and is by far the nicest resort on the island, but be aware that it appeals most to couples, older people or families who aren't looking for lots of nightlife but are rather discerning and want scenery, a nice beach and good food- it's probably one of the most expensive resorts too, but well worth it!
However, again it's quite far from Palma airport (but very near Alcudia)
In Puerto Pollensa, I'd reccommend the Duva- they've got apts to sleep 4 they are good apts and only 850 metres to the centre. If being in the centre is important, you can't go wrong with the Daina apts. They are right in the centre and are highly sought after so you need to book early.

In Alcudia, try the Sea Club- 3 star 5 minutes from the beach and they have air conditioning (you may need to pay locally for it though)

The nearest resorts to the airport are El Arenal, C'an Pastilla & Playa De Palma. The beaches there are good, the resorts themselves are ok, but whereas Magaluf/Palma Nova appeal to the British, Arenal, C'an Pastilla & P D Palma appeal more to the German crowds.

If Alcudia /Pollensa are too far away, then I would also consider Cala D'or. Its very pretty with cove-like beaches, very family friendly and not too hectic at night. The Sol Cala D'or are ok small and friendly with a nice pool and again are air-conditioned.

Theres always Palma Nova/Magaluf, but it will be busy in September. Santa Ponsa is always a good bet though and is only approx 6 miles from PNova/Magaluf if you want a more hectic pace. Try The Club Santa Ponsa if you don't mind the hillside location- the views are fabulous, or if you have to be on the beach the best ones are The Gran Santa Ponsa.

Whatever you decide- you'll have a great time.

All the best!

some years in the past, I stayed in Santa Ponsa for a weeks holiday. lower back then it substitute right into a quiet hotel, pub-sensible, with in basic terms the Irish quarter that modify into packed with pubs, and mind-blowing pubs right here and there. easily unlike Palma Nova or Benidorm the place the streets are coated with pubs. in the previous this year, I stayed in Palma Nova and travelled by employing bus for a visit in Santa Ponsa. i substitute into stunned at how busy it substitute into with vacationers while in comparison with some years in the past. The coastline has had a makeover and is certainly alluring. The walk beside the coastline is gorgeous and picturesque. precise on the a techniques end, be warned there's a average monetary employer up-hill. There seems some greater English bars then there was, yet no longer as cheesy as Magaluf etc. What I liked approximately Santa Ponsa substitute into the bus station. From there you could shuttle to Palma, Palma Nova, Magaluf etc for days out. Its a sturdy base to confirm different places from. All in all, a holiday is what you're making it, and that i think of you will have fun with it. Have a stunning holiday..........
