If more than one why? I have mates who seem to have about six editions of these features , which with directors cuts I understand, but why keep the old videos?

They own multiples because each LOTR movie came out and then they came out with and extended version after that with additional scenes and stuff. Brilliant sales tactic because i know many people who ran out to buy the first copy and then had to go out and buy the extended version!!

We have the 6 Star Wars movies on DVD and the 3 Lord of the Rings extended edition, movies much longer and answers and few questions. Brilliant films...

I don't know. In my house we have the whole LOTR and star wars series. But one copy of each movie. I don't care enough about the director or extra material. After the movie i stop watching.

None. I saw all 3 LOTR, but only the first 3 (in terms of date of release) Star Wars'.

i own 1 copy of each lotr films and ... wait for it ...wait for it.... i have never seen (nor do i intend to) any of the star wars film and i`m 40 was at school when the first one came out and was so bored with the hype and everyone talking about it i never went to see it and so never bothered with the others

1 copy each of the LOTR trilogy on dvd. The original SW trilogy dvd box set, the originals on VHS box set, all three new ones on dvd, and Asian copies of original SW trilogy on DVD bought years before the official DVD release. Not much use now.

i must be one of the only people in the world who hasn't seen star wars and i'm 38 years old! so i have no copies nor would i want any.
