Hi, I thought I better jump in here. I have bipolar disorder too. I used to take lithium among other drugs. I am assuming you have bipolar too. Horniness is one of the main symptoms and in some people the urges are just too hard to control.

Why has your md taken you off lithium? Are trying a different drug instead? Going to a psychotherapist (not that I ever found that helped too much without taking drugs to regulate the chemical imbalance)? I strongly suggest you get a second opinion if your doc thinks you don't need meds, this can't be cured, you just have to regulate it or you could spiral out of control. I have in the past, very badly.

Concerning your partner not liking sex, now that's a whole other question in itself. They can't expect you to live out your days (being only 42 there are many more ahead!) sexless. Has it always been this way? Were you more excepting of it on the meds? You could always try sex toys if your partner doesn't mind, to use alone or spice things up. Unfortunately people with bipolar can't really control their urges very well so can end up doing things they really regret like cheating, gambling excessively, losing their jobs, friends, family, the list goes on.

I do really think you need to look into some more meds though, you don't want to just end up snapping, sleeping with random people, possibly catching an std, ruining your current relationship all because you have a controllable chemical imbalance.

Hope I didn't ask too many questions but these are all things you have to consider if you want to stay well. Good luck with this. I know from personal experience how hard it can be.

I'm not into psychology but, I thought Lithium was for control of "Manic depressive" or "Bipolar disorders" I had no idea it was a sex control drug. The police department should know about this for control of sexual predators?
