craiglist.org and local notice boards in pub or wherever you can find them.
if on notice board - show pix, provide detailed description,
set attractive price and give you mobile number and email address...
good luck
PS your friends are also good bet if they are interested..at least you know where you stand with them - if they are good payers etc.

You could have a garage sale and ask the local shop if they would place an advert for it on their notice board. You could also print some leaflets out and take them around your neighbourhood. If you have a car you could do a car boot sale at the week-end (your local newspaper prints the venues). Of course, you could advertise them in your local newspaper too. You will get more money selling to people in general because you will not want to charge your friends what you think the stuff is worth.

You could try ebay or just putting some adds in local shops and having a yard sale. The problem is that you're noy going to be 100% sure that you going to sell all of the things you want because you might not find anyone that wants to buy them. Alternatively you could look in your local paper and see if anyone (like a local shop) will buy them all off you, but then you probably wont get a lot of money for them.

Hi,
I live in Connecticut and there are two ways that work well. One is just have a Tag Sale. People love them. The other is a Estate Sale, there are services in the phonebook to help. Good Luck.
Oh one more thing stay away from storing your goods, you are better off selling them like you said.

Could you put everything on ebay for one or three days? You might get a good price but it wouldn't guarantee everything would sell. How about a garage sale or trying to see if friends and family would buy your stuff to help you out? You could contact a house clearance company but they probably wouldn't give you much money for everything. Good luck.

Another idea besides the garage sales, etc IF you don't sell all of your stuff is to donate it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. They will give you a tax-deductible receipt for all of the stuff. (This is assuming you will still file US taxes.)
