If you are able to get a very accurate reading of your birth chart, you may be able to get some useful information out of it, but the most accurate reading can only tell you where you were when you came into this life. Since then, you've done a lot of things, so they may not be reflected in the birth chart.
So if you're interested in astrology, work with it, but don't expect a reading to be able to tell you what to do in a specific situation. You may get some useful information, but you will still have to make your own decisions.

I enjoy reading my horoscope to see how accurate it is, but in the big picture of life, I'd say a horoscope reading can't be even remotely accurate, besides vast generalizations.

In astrology, a horoscope is a chart or diagram representing the positions of the planets, other celestial bodies, and sensitive angles at the time of any event, such as a person's birth. The term horoscope is derived from Greek words meaning, "a look at the hours" [horoskopos, pl. horoskopoi,or "marker(s) of the hour."] Other commonly used names for the horoscope in English include horoscope chart, natal chart, natus, birth chart, astrological chart, astro-chart, celestial map, sky-map, nativity, star-chart, cosmogram, Vitasphere, soulprint, radical chart, radix or simply chart, among others. It is used as a method of divination about events relating to the point in time it represents. These may be significant times in a person's life, or any other events on Earth such as storms or earthquakes.

That depends, some horroscope readers are only serving to entertain you. But some are based on thousands of years of astrology. Although some people don't believe in astrology it seems to prove to be true be those that have studied it well. The main reason I have found that astrology comes up inaccurate much of the time is because the nation has strong Christian influence. Common Christian practice is to rely entirely on a magical being instead of utilizing the tools he has blessed us with. Astrology being one of those things
