Let me say something "Viva La Revolucion"

I would gladly live in a socialistic governed country. Why? Because I live in South Africa at the moment, and nothing can get this country back into shape, except socialism. I believe this firmly, and no-one will be able to change my view about it!

Let me be more specific: the only thing that will get South Africa into shape (economically, socially, etc) is the sort of regime that Lenin had in Russia - before Stalin had him killed. It was a type of socialistic communism, where everyone got what they deserved, according to what they achieved. The government gave everyone a quota to fulfil, and everyone received accordingly. But also, if you worked harder and better, and exceeded your quota, the government also rewarded you accordingly. If South Africa can get a government that works on this basis, we will soon become the land of milk and honey (as Nostradamus predicted centuries ago!)

This will also ensure that nepotism and reversed apartheid/racsism will become something of the past. No-one will get stuck into positions of power, just because they know the right people, have the right skin colour, or were part of the freedom fighters any more! And the best part of all: when South Africa is governed socialistically, no-one will leave the country to look for a better/new heimatland. All our professional docters, nurses, teachers, athletes, architects, and many more from other professions, will stay, and make SA a better place once again!

Hope you understand what I'm trying to say...

I live in Germany so I dont know anything about H Chavez. However I think that people in the US give socialism a bad rap. Ask any American if they think everyone should have a free education. They will say yes. How about free health care. Again yes. Both of those ideas are based on socialist princpals. While I don't beleive that socialism is the answer to every problem, I think the idea of all people getting a certain basic minimum of goods and services is a positive idea. In the US we have multigazillionairres who couldnt spend all their money if they tried living within a stone's throw of people who wonder how they will afford their next meal. A CEO makes hundreds of millions while the guy who clean his toilet makes minimum wage. Does the CEo work that much harder? I dont think they should have equal salraies, but should it really be a range of hundreds of millions of dollars? Anyway I think a little moire equality is a good thing.

Some people believe that equality is the best thing for everything. Hugo Chavez have earned the people's love and respect. He have demonstrated that with landsliding results on every election since 1998. He is well respected for his view against the US government. I don't believe in socialism because true socialism couldn't exist given the human nature, but it is an utopia that capitalism can not give. For the poor, capitalism means oppression and that's why socialism have so many followers even in the US. But as I said before, a totally utopic way of thinking. Is the best thing but it can not be achieved.

To get it you would probably have had to live in a Venezuela slum for awhile to understand these peoples mentality. If you couldnt find work and had a family to feed and your house that you lived in was a piece of crap with no electricity or plumbing and there was crime all around you and you felt like nobody cared about you and along comes Hugo saying he does, and starts to give handouts, and makes people believe the problems they face are due to imperialistic, capitalistic pigs you could maybe begin to understand it. Dont get me wrong, I cant stand Hugo Chavez but I try to understand why he is so popular and this is what I think.

If you live in an industrialized nation, they all are Socialist: the US, Great Britain, France, Germany. Have you ever heard of Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Unemployment payments, EPA, OSHA, FDA, USDA, FDIC? That's Socialism.

Pure / Free-market Capitalism has been proofed dead as much as Communism. All that's left is regulated Capitalism (or as it should be called, Socialism).
