If you are leaking fluid it is a good idea to get a proper examination, but you see, sometimes they are reluctant to do this, beacuse the more examinations you have, the higher the risk of the labour starting early. And this is not the best idea.
If you leak more fluids go back in and get checked, they will not get annoyed with you or turn you away.
They are trying to let nature take it's own course, rather than poke about mre than necessary.
If you start to get contractions you will know!
Often small contractions a few days before the birth may fool you into thinking this is it! But they are normal and will go off after a few hours, it's your body's way of practicing a contraction movement. Your body is preparing to push your baby out soon, so all sorts of things are happening.
If you see any blood discharge or brown or green fluids go to the hospital.
Keep calm as it is not Eastenders and doesnt happen in 15 minutes. Your first baby will take several hours to move down through your pelvis and enter this world!
If you are getting anxious or worrying about it, just walk into your hospital, they will monitor you and baby for an hour, count the fetal movements and baby heartrate again.
This will give you a little more peace of mind. When your waters break it could be a slow trickle or a sudden gush, but it is not a bucket full of fluid!
When your waters do break it could still be 5-10 hours or more before you give birth!
However if you think your waters have gone already, go on into the hospital and see them and they will examine you.
You should relax more, your baby is more or less full term now and may well be ready to say HI!
Best wishes xx

Yes hun, I think most women will tell you the same, when you are pregnant the amount of discharge you have is greatly increased. Some times this is thick, and some times it feels like you have wet yourself. When I was a first time to be mum, it would worry the hell out of me. I think the tightenings you are having is braxton hicks. These are the womb preparing you for labour. I also had these for several weeks before I gave birth. Also very annoying.
As for can you be in labour without you knowing. NA I think you always know, however it may not be really painful at first. With my second I was in hospital with pre eclampsia, I had been in for a week, and on the day they were going to let me out, I felt a familiar feeling I was in labour. I told the dr, but he said dont be silly, go home. SO I DID, and stayed there until the monday when my section was planned. I told my husband about 4 mins before the dr came in, dont be surprised if they tell you I am in labour. I am not sure who was more surprised my husband or the dr!!! That will teach them. LOL
Good luck hun, and my god when you are in labour, it is like your worst stomach ache, x 100

Hiya I'd go to your hospital and get checked out again, for peace of mind if nothing else. If your waters are slowly trickling away this will show up on a scan. The pains could be Braxton Hicks but then they could be labour. The hospital can link you up to a monitor which will determine whether labour has started. I'd be more concerned about your waters though as they protect the baby and if they are slowly ebbing away you need medical attention. Talk to your midwife and see what she suggests. They're used to women having lots of false starts and worries so don't feel you're wasting her time. She'll advise you what to do next, but if not I'd definitely go straight to the hospital and get yourself properly checked out. Good luck x x x

It's possible that you may be just getting the first twinges or it could just be strong Braxton Hicks and too much to drink (happens to us all when were pregnant - one of the joys). If it's coming and going and not causing lots of pain then just go with it until something definately starts or try to lay down for a sleep, if you can't sleep for the pain then go and get yourself to the Midwife Unit, insist on a check up and don't leave till you happy. I was told that if your trying to sleep and can't cos it's painful then your probably in labour.
Hope it all goes well for you.

yes, it is possible to even be pregnant and not realise it on occasion as some people don't stop mensturating throughout. Some people don't have lots of discomfort during labour and others, like me, only have what appears to be a slight backache throughout. If in doubt call doc or hospital maternity ward, they will advise.
I'm no expert but you sound like you are having practice pains (Bracts and Hicks) which is normal, get your bag ready and congratulations to you and partner. Hope it goes well!
