The Rolling Stones did the original version of "Sympathy for the Devil" which was later Covered by Guns 'N' Roses. I think that might be the song you where thinking off.

Sympathy for The Devil. I think it was released on Their Satanic Majesties Request.
It was one of the last songs released while Brian Jones was still with the band and was played in the memorial concert for Brian in Hyde Park (London). It featured dozens of African drummers in that concert.
There is a film directed by French film maker, Jean Luc Godard called Sympathy for The Devil: One plus One, which features a study of the band developing and recording this song in the studio. The rest of the film is very dated so I wont recommend you buy it (it was recently released on DVD), but it might be worth renting.
